With a vision "To create humane communities and individuals of character, through the pursuit of excellence in body, mind and spirit, by imparting quality education that makes an outstanding difference to our evolving world, whilst empowering the marginalized", the foundation of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School was laid on the 15th of January, 1957. The first Manager was Fr. Joe Morgan, a Redemptorist Priest, who worked hand in hand with the Headmaster, Sir Ayres da Costa and 21 teachers and masters to impart a holistic education. Almost four and a half years later on the 12th of October, 1961, Fr. Brian McGrath, another Redemptorist Priest, took over as Principal and Headmaster. Fr. Brian was followed by Fr. Jose Fonseca and Fr. Dr. Antonio Rodrigues. Thereafter the Redemptorists decided to hand over the post to lay persons, first of whom was Mrs. Christabel Pereira. Presently that post is held by Sisters belonging to St. Charles Borromeo Congregation.
At OLPS there are presently 1348 students in the secondary section, 923 students in the primary section, 452 in K.G. and 91 in the Nursery, totalling to around 2814 students in the entire school and we can safely say that around 20,000 students have passed out through the portals of this famous institution. The Primary and Pre-primary sections are unaided and consist of 52 staff members while the Secondary section is Aided and has 51 staff members. Fr Louis Menezes is the Manager and Fr Juvance Serrao is the administrator of the School, who along with the Staff see to the entire functioning of the school. Sr Sheeja is the Principal and Sr Elizabeth is the Headmistress.
The school follows Maharashtra State Board Syllabus besides training the boys in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. OLPS has been rated as one of the best schools in Mumbai for many years and has won many laurels in various fields.
Besides having many successful Alumni, the school also has a vibrant Alumni Association that has been pitching in with ideas and resources to improve the infrastructure of the school. Truly we can say that the motto of the school, "Let your Light Shine", is earnestly followed and practiced in all spheres of our students' daily life.
